Introduction to V-Beam for redness

Although leg veins respond better to sclerotherapy, laser can be used to treat vessels that are too small for sclerotherapy. Unfortunately, all of these conditions, with the possible exception of some facial birthmarks, are considered cosmetic and are not covered by insurance.

The Vbeam Pulsed Dye Laser is one of the safest and most effective treatments for minor vascular skin conditions. It has a proven track record of being an effective solution to the problem of broken capillaries and smaller enlarged or dilated veins.

Most patients require a short series of three to six initial Vbeam treatment sessions to attain their ideal cosmetic results, with each spaced approximately four weeks apart. However, patients can expect some visible improvement with each treatment session.

On average, patients need 3-4 Vbeam treatments. The sessions are spaced 4 weeks apart. Port-wine stains, extensive rosacea, keloid scars, and hemangiomas may require more treatments. The results of Vbeam skin rejuvenation and redness reduction can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years.

VBeam tends to better address rosacea in far fewer treatments. Typically it can take IPL up to 6 treatments to resolve rosacea-induced redness while VBeam can yield similar results in 3 to 4 treatments. Additionally, VBeam also helps with rosacea-induced acne.

The Cost. Shafer says three to five treatments total are recommended for optimal results, and he says the average cost of a single treatment ranges from $400 to $800.

Redness should subside during the hours after treatment, and you can apply makeup immediately to conceal it. You may also have some scabbing over the treatment area, which you should let heal on its own. Any side effects from Vbeam should be minimal and last no longer than a few days after treatment.

Patients can see small capillaries disappear immediately after the treatment, but typically, one can see results two to four weeks after each treatment, with results lasting from six months to two years.

Preparing For Your V-Beam Treatment

Most insurance companies do not offer reimbursem*nt for cosmetic and aesthetic procedures. Some carriers will, however, cover the treatment of disfiguring birthmarks such as hemangiomas or port wine stains.
